Each spread will feature an animal or group of animals e.g. the Kangaroos and Wallabies, Bowerbirds, Seadragons and Seahorses, Cicadas etc. The book will be heavily illustrated with an average of 3 colour photographs on a spread and occasional line drawings to show diagrammatically such things as life cycles. In addition to an introduction to each spread, there will be general information about the featured animal: how it's born, grows, feeds, sleeps, mates, socialises, defends itself and its territory, etc. Breakout boxes will provide fascinating snippets e.g.Why hollow-nesting birds' eggs are always white, how platypuses find food in the dark, why kangaroos hop rather than run, how frogs and geckos stick to glass, etc. The overall impression of the book will be that it's fun, informative and a useful reference for all the family, fitting easily into a daypack or a car pocket."--Provided by publisher
