Summary
Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Howland families in America, with focus on the descendants of John Howland (ca. 1592-1672) and Elizabeth Tilley (ca. 1606-1687). John was a Pilgrim, and the son of Henry Howland and Anne Margaret Aires. Elizabeth was the daughter of the Pilgrims John Tilley and Elizabeth Lancaster. In 1620, their families left England and came to America on the ship Mayflower. John and Elizabeth were married in 1623, and had twelve children, some of whom died young. Those who reached adulthood were Desire, John, Hope, Elizabeth, Lydia, Hannah, Joseph, Jabez, Ruth, and Isaac. The family moved to Maine in 1632. Later John and Elizabeth settled in Plymouth, at Rocky Nook, Kingston, Massachusetts, where they lived in their later years. Descendants also lived in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec (Canada), Cuba, Denmark, Spain, and in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., Wisconsin, and elsewhere
